About the role:

The Integrated Planning, Data and Insights team within Customer Markets ensures competitive and sustainable energy solutions in the Australian market. By leveraging data and analytics, we optimize pricing, demand forecasting, resource allocation, and more to support AGL's growth, foster customer loyalty, increase market share, and enhance customer experience through innovative commercial initiatives.

As the Senior Commercial Analyst, you play a critical role in shaping sales and pricing strategies at AGL, understanding residential and SME customer behaviours. Your key tasks will include generating hypotheses, conducting in-depth analysis, and crafting strategic insights to optimize AGL's commercial performance. Additionally, you'll analyse market context, competitor intelligence, and conduct customer profiling. All while monitoring key sales metrics, daily performance reports, and competitor strategies are also part of your responsibilities. Moreover, you'll analyse market dynamics and commercial metrics to inform pricing decisions, conducting thorough data analysis, and providing actionable insights for strategic pricing models.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Collaborate on generating hypotheses, analysing insights, and evaluating commercial performance across sales channels.

  • Analyse key sales metrics, such as new residential and SME customers, to inform performance assessments.

  • Stay updated on competitor acquisition strategies to refine our own sales approaches.

  • Develop a deep understanding of channel strategies to optimize sales and distribution channels.

  • Collaborate on analysing pricing decisions, strategies, and performance metrics.

  • Assess the impact of pricing decisions on key performance metrics to guide strategic decision-making.

  • Support analysis of commercial performance related to residential and SME customers and the overall market.

  • Understand market contexts, customer trends, and regulatory changes to provide strategic insights.

  • Conduct demographic and psychographic profiling of residential and SME customers.

  • Provide insights and updates at SMP BU planning and performance meetings.

About you:

  • Previous demonstrated experience as a sales analyst, customer insight role or pricing analyst, preferably in the energy or utilities sector.

  • Strong analytical skills with expertise in data analysis tools and techniques, price modelling etc.

  • In-depth knowledge of sales and channel strategies, market trends, and competitive landscape in the energy industry.

  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing energy pricing and a commitment to maintaining compliance.

  • Experience in conducting forecasting and performance analysis to inform strategic decision-making.

  • Ability to develop and maintain sales dashboards, reports, and key performance indicators.

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques with expertise in SQL, Python, or similar languages.

  • Excellent communication skills to convey insights and recommendations to sales teams and stakeholders.

  • Ability to work closely and collaboratively with stakeholders to drive integrated strategies.
