Why this role matters
The Salvation Army (Salvos) provides a wide range of services that support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer accommodation, counselling, support, behavioural programs, and advice to women and children at risk of, experiencing or escaping family violence. Our services focus on prevention, restoration, and healing to provide specialised support to address immediate safety issues and provide advice, referrals, and connection to assist the recovery journey.
This position involves providing assessment, crisis response, service planning, targeted interventions, and referrals for women and women with children experiencing family violence. It includes offering interim support and outreach in the community and motels, as well as responding to referrals from The Orange Door, Safe Steps, and self-referrals. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, safe family violence and child well-being responses, using a feminist approach to empower and enhance the safety of women and children.
About The Role
We are seeking a values-driven Specialist Family Violence Practitioner - Rapid Response Team for our Family Violence program role Windsor in a Full-time capacity.
Reporting to the Family violence Services team leader this is a Max Term, Full-time role, located in Windsor, Victoria .
You will successfully
- Build effective relationships with clients, encouraging self-determination and participation, following the National Family Violence Model of Care.
- Provide support in line with TSA case management models and standards.
- Continuously assess client needs and circumstances, referring cases for case management as needed.
- Develop individual case plans with clients, addressing their needs and goals.
- Implement case plans, ensuring active client participation.
- Assist clients in accessing support services and community connections, and advocate as needed.
- Regularly monitor and review client progress, making adjustments to case plans as necessary.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in line with TSA standards.
- Identify and report risks to clients, staff, and TSA to the Team Leader.
- Identify service gaps and suggest improvements to the Team Leader.
- Meet key performance indicators within set timeframes.
You will have
- A tertiary qualification in Social Work or equivalent is essential
- Experience working in the family violence sector is desirable
- Experience in specialist family violence and/ or child wellbeing work is highly desirable
- Demonstrated crisis response experience and skills
- Experience: Previous experience in social services is preferred.
- Highly developed time management and work prioritisation skills with an ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision required
- Advanced computer skills including experience in data and record management
