DescriptionSedgman is in the process of recruiting for a Principal Structural Engineer to join our office in Brisbane. We are looking for someone to lead a team of junior and experienced engineers. What does the role involve?
You will oversee the structural team to conduct a range of technical services, covering all activities from client interaction, project development/preliminary design, detail design, construction support & commissioning in line with safety, schedule, budget and quality parameters for mining processing facilities and associated infrastructure.
You will report to the Manager of Structural Engineering and be in the leadership group for the team. At a high level, you can expect to:
- Lead, manage, coach, develop, train and mentor a team of engineers, managing resources effectively to meet project needs, technical competence and employee engagement
- Interact closely with Designers to produce models and oversee/conduct detailed concrete and steel design for variety of mining and process infrastructure
- Provide input and oversight to technically challenging design problems and other project activities including feasibility studies, surveys and reports, specifications, bills of quantities, materials lists and cost estimates
- Interface with other Engineering disciplines, including Electrical, Process and Mechanical
- Focus on safety, technical innovation and continuous improvement
Ideally you will bring:
- Experience as a Lead or Principal Engineer in design/consultancy and construction environments in mining and resource industry
- Effective leadership capability, coaching and mentoring skills
- Bachelor or Masters of Structural Engineering
- Knowledge of construction methodologies and sequencing
- Experience with managing teams of designers and engineers and collaborating with vendors and construction team
- Capability in generation of design hour budgets and schedules
- Past experience in a multi-disciplinary team of engineers is highly valued
