The Factory Manager plays a key leadership role on-site, responsible for driving operational excellence and production efficiency within the Whey and Nutritional’s department. This includes overseeing the safe and efficient manufacture, packaging, storage, and movement of products to the highest quality standards. As part of your role, you will also lead in setting the strategic framework, focusing on driving individual and team operations whilst meeting overall people, safety, quality, operational, customer, and commercial goals. Key Accountabilities:
- OHS: Promote a safety-first culture, report and investigate incidents, and take corrective actions.
- Quality: Ensure department meets GMP and HACCP standards.
- Financial: Manage labour within budget and business needs.
- Performance: Report daily on Safety, Quality, and Production KPIs.
- Efficiency: Monitor and improve plant efficiency, utilization, yield, and waste.
- Improvement: Provide expertise on production processes and improvements.
- Projects: Manage multiple projects, ensuring timely and budgeted delivery.
- Leadership: Lead, coach, and motivate the team for operational excellence.
- Reporting: Understand and report on commercial levers and KPIs.
- Environment: Minimize operational impact on the environment.
Qualifications:
- Tertiary degree in Business, Management, Food Science, Logistics, or Engineering preferred.
Experience:
- 5+ years in a supervisory role within food manufacturing ideally within dairy industry
- Performance and project management experience desirable.
Skills:
- Sound knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HACCP systems.
- Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, ideally within dairy manufacturing.
- Strong leadership capability and the ability to lead change.
- Commitment to continuous improvement.
- Well-developed team building and leadership skills ability to coach and mentor
- Proficiency in MS Office and SAP.
- Experience with budget planning and adherence.
- Time management and organizational skills.
- Collaborative and relationship-building skills internal and external stakeholders
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing Principles.
