About the Project
The Project Manager will lead the delivery projects within our Technology Portfolio. There are a variety of projects within the portfolio focussed on improving our internal & customer facing technology toolsets. These projects are all in the initiation phase and require an experienced Project Manager to commence the scoping & delivery planning.
The successful candidate will have brilliant communication skills demonstrated by their ability to articulate complexity succinctly to a range of impacted stakeholders including our executives. They will have worked in a hybrid project delivery environment and have a good working knowledge of technology including, but not limited to, infrastructure, interfaces, websites & Apps. Given we operate highly secure data environment there is also the requirement to plan and manage all the nonfunctional requirements supporting pre requirements to implement
VicRoads runs a delivery practice model and as such this role reports to the Head of Project Practice and is accountable to the Delivery Portfolio Manager. From a project delivery perspective, you will also work in partnership with responsible Product Manager, the IT delivery teams and the Change Management practice to ensure the agreed scope is planned and executed in a manner that ensures a successful delivery of the outcome to staff & customers. You will likely also need to manage vendors through the delivery by creating a “one team” approach and build relationships with other key project teams in the transformation program to manage dependencies.
About the role
Leveraging your strong background in Project Management, you will be distinctly collaborative, highly adaptable, consultative, and well-versed in Project Management disciplines, concepts, and approaches. You will also bring a wealth of experience in successfully managing large, customer-focused projects.
You will need to work with key stakeholders to ensure the business has robust operational governance and management processes defined and implemented. Additionally, you will manage vendors responsible for project delivery and coordinate with other key projects under the modernization program that depend on this project's deliverables.
Other key tasks include:
- Management, identification, resolution and escalation of project risks & issues.
- Facilitate and manage resource planning including identifying required resources and assigning individual responsibilities.
- Manage Project cost estimation, budget development, and cost control.
- Manage day-to-day operational aspects of a project and scope.
- Manage resources to complete project on time and within budget.
- Communicate progress to stakeholders and revise schedules as required.
- Keep team and leadership updated on project status and risk factors.
About you
You have extensive experience working with technology projects that involve vendor engagement to ensure cohesive deployments and complex platform implementations. With over seven years of delivering technology-related projects and programs within a hybrid delivery model, you are adept at managing large-scale programs with interconnected project streams. Your expertise extends to running RFx processes, from vendor and solution selection through to implementation.
You are proficient in both Agile (Scrum, Kanban) and Waterfall methodologies and excel in presentation, workshop facilitation, and stakeholder engagement. Your ability to manage change effectively and lead diverse teams ensures successful project outcomes. Highly skilled in MS Office tools, including MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, you leverage these tools to drive efficiency and clarity in project management.
Your leadership capabilities enable you to provide clear direction, effective coaching, and strategic decision-making. You have a strong ability to translate business strategy into functional and operational plans, applying expert problem-solving skills to navigate complex challenges. Additionally, your experience working with Tier 1 and Tier 2 vendors enhances your ability to manage key partnerships and ensure successful project execution.
