Introduction:Mildura Fruit Juices Australia (MFJA) commenced trading in 1970 and is a major fruit processor of juices, concentrates, cut peels, oils, blends & bases, confectionery, sauces, pulps and purees to the beverage and food service industries.
About the Role
We have two maximum term positions available, one due to an internal promotion and second due to seasonal increase in workload.
Reporting into the Laboratory Supervisor this is a critical position within the quality team. You will be involved in the day-to-day QA and Control process, performing lab tests and reporting on data to ensure all regulatory requirements are met.
This is a seasonal role with a maximum term contract, with full time work available till November 2025.

Responsibilities will include:
Set up, calibrate and operate laboratory equipment and instruments.
Perform tests for wide range of products starting from raw materials to manufactured final products to verify conformity to specifications.
Make decisions while correcting a batch to bring into conformity to specification understanding the characteristics of the final product, such as Brix / Acid Ratio in Fruit, Organoleptic in all food products etc.
Record test results on standardized forms, input data into computer.
Maintain laboratory equipment and complete regular stock take of consumables.
Maintain product and raw material sample library, replace old samples with new / fresh and keep the sample storage area clean and tidy.
Prepare chemical solutions and microbiological media according to standard formulas.
Plan and perform storage stability tests on products to measure product performance during storage and changes in product characteristics.
Perform environmental sample analysis as per guidelines and assist in R&D activities.
Skills and Experience
- Qualifications in science or similar will be highly regarded but not essential
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and previous laboratory experience
- You will be a quality focused individual with excellent attention to detail, have good communication skills and have the ability to work in a fast-paced team.
- HACCP trained will be highly regarded
- Sound knowledge of BRC standards
- Intermediate knowledge of the MS Suite including word and excel
