What You'll Be Doing
We are seeking a high quality, dedicated, enthusiastic trainee to join the RPA Hospital Paediatric team. This position is accredited for advanced training in general paediatrics without a perinatal component by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP). The primary function of this position is to provide an exceptional training experience and quality clinical care, under supervision, to children requiring inpatient and ambulatory medical services at RPA hospital.
Royal Prince Alfred is the principal teaching hospital of the University of Sydney and one of Australia’s leading hospitals, providing an extensive range of diagnostic and treatment facilities. Over 12,000 children present to RPA ED each year and approximately 1600 are admitted with a range of acute and chronic medical and surgical problems. The Department of Paediatrics provides a broad range of services, including a busy 10-bed inpatient ward, a hospital in the home program, daily acute review clinics, general paediatric outpatient clinics and medical support to the Parent Baby Unit and RPAVirtual, Australia’s first virtual hospital. There is a focus on innovation, quality improvement and mentoring trainees towards consultancy. A myriad of educational opportunities are provided including a daily teaching program, access to sub-specialty clinics and education provided by the RPA NICU and the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network. Trainees will participate in the supervision and education of medical students from the University of Sydney.

MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.Registered as an Advanced Trainee with the Royal Australian College of Physicians (RACP).Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.Demonstrated commitment to teaching and continuing professional development.Demonstrated interest and involvement in research.Minimum 3 years post-graduate paediatric experience.
