About the program
Our Gippsland Youth Residential Youth Rehabilitation Program (GYRRP) provides a 24 hours per day, 7 days per week residential service to young people aged 16-25 who are experiencing concerns relating to their drug and alcohol use.
Your new role
As an AOD Support Worker, you will actively contribute to the provision of a safe and hospitable environment for young people voluntarily seeking withdrawal and/or respite from the acute use of alcohol and/or other drugs.
As a Key Member Of The Team, You Will
Support the delivery of harm minimisation education and information sessionsDeliver therapeutic interventions to young people undertaking withdrawalAssist in the development of individual treatment plans, making referrals, completing discharge summaries and other administration tasksAssist with meal preparation/ordering, general maintenance of the facility, undertaking laundry duties and transporting young people when required

Your skills and experience
You Will Bring With You
Certificate IV in AOD or completion of the AOD Core Competencies (or willingness to complete within the first 12 months of employment)Previous experience working with people with AOD and/or Mental Health issuesKnowledge of screening, assessment and community-based treatment for clients with AOD and mental health issuesExperience in developing individual treatment plans, post withdrawal and discharge planningAn understanding of AOD withdrawal and the harm minimisation framework
