Key Responsibilities:
- Livestock Management: Monitor and maintain herd health, assist with calving, administer vaccinations, and ensure proper breeding programs.
- Feeding and Nutrition: Provide high-quality feed and pasture management to support optimal milk production and cow health.
- Milking Operations: Operate and maintain milking equipment, ensuring milk quality meets our high standards.
- Farm Maintenance: Maintain and repair farm infrastructure, including barns, fences, and water systems.
- Business Management: Keep accurate records of milk production, herd health, feed inventory, and farm expenses.
- Staff Supervision: Assist in training and supervising farm workers and contractors.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Experience in dairy farming is preferred, but formal qualifications in agriculture or animal husbandry are an advantage.
- Animal Care: Strong knowledge of dairy cattle behavior, nutrition, and health management.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to handle the demands of farm work, including lifting, bending, and working in all weather conditions.
- Time Management: Ability to prioritize daily tasks efficiently.
- Technical Skills: Experience operating and maintaining farm machinery is a plus.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to think on your feet and respond to unexpected farm challenges.
- Team Player: Strong communication skills and a willingness to work as part of a team.
Experience Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience with a solid understanding of farm management.
