About this opportunity
The Housing and Accommodation Support Initiative (HASI) is a NSW government funded initiative that delivers specialist community based psychosocial support services for people aged 16 years and older.
Rehabilitation and Recovery Support Workers provide direct, practical supports to participants that enable them to address their mental health issues, achieve their recovery goals, and participate as valued members of their community. Rehabilitation and Recovery Support Workers support participants in the development of self-management skills.
Rehabilitation and Recovery Support Workers work as part of an integrated team and may work with other Rehabilitation and Recovery Support Workers, Peer Workers, Social and Emotional Wellbeing Workers, and other services to ensure that participants have access to the supports that they need, when they need them.
To be successful in this role, you will possess the following
- Completion of the Certificate 4 in Mental Health or Certificate 4 in Mental Health Peer Work (or be enrolled in and actively working toward completing one of these qualifications)
- A contemporary understanding of mental health issues and recovery orientated mental health practice
- Capacity to continuously develop practice in response to supervision, reflection, training, practice experience and feedback
- Availability and willingness to use personal smartphone (iPhone or Android)
- Rights to work in Australia and a current and valid Driver’s License
- Satisfactory Police Records Check [less than 12 months old] and Working with Children Check, before commencement – or willing to obtain.
- NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) Worker Orientation Module Certificate is mandatory prior to commencement: https://www.ndiscommission.gov.au/workers/support-for-workers/training-course
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDISWSC) is mandatory prior to commencement.
Desirable criteria
- Experience in delivering psychosocial support to people living with significant mental health challenges
- Experience in outreach support
- Previous training in mental health (e.g. Mental Health First Aid, ASIST)
