The Doctor of Medicine (MD) program is delivered primarily on three campuses located in Wollongong, Shoalhaven and in the Southern Highlands, as well as in numerous rural sites throughout NSW.
About the role
In this teaching intensive role you will provide educational leadership in the field of Psychiatry within the University of Wollongong’s Doctor of Medicine (MD) program. This includes overseeing the curriculum (review, development, documentation), managing Psychiatry teaching activities, and leading expert contributions to assessment content, as well as conducting or supporting research within the discipline of Psychiatry You will also draw on your clinical and educational networks to expand teaching opportunities for medical students, either within their own workplace or through the Graduate School of Medicine’s network of rural and regional partner healthcare facilities across the state. Additionally, you will collaborate with and offer leadership and guidance to clinician educators, including psychiatrists and mental health professionals, across other UOW MD training hubs.
To be successful you will be a qualified medical graduate eligible for unrestricted registration as a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) and hold a current or anticipated appointment as a consultant Psychiatrist with the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD). You will have a proven ability to deliver high-quality clinical and medical education at introductory, intermediate and advanced levels as well as experience in curriculum and assessment development within a medical school or medical training environment. Strong administrative and leadership skills in both clinical and academic settings are essential as well as experience working with research teams and contributing to impactful discipline-related research. A track record of scholarly activities and the ability supervise research students will be highly regarded.
