Senior Manager Health, Safety and Environment
Reporting to the VP and General Manager of Perisher, and part of the Australia Region Leadership Team for Vail Resorts, this new role will be responsible for leading the Health, Safety and Environment teams at Perisher, Hotham and Falls Creek.
Lead the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) team at Vail Resorts’ Australian operations in the oversight, implementation and application of health, safety and environmental management systems within the region. Work closely with enterprise leadership, resort operations and the Australian HSE team to implement and sustain a HSE culture that achieves world-class safety and environmental outcomes. Collaborate with external partners, community leaders and regulators in supporting the Australian operations as well as the company’s core value of Be Safe.
The role is based in Perisher Valley/Jindabyne, Falls Creek, or Hotham - three iconic Australian ski resorts operated by Vail Resorts. Perisher, the Southern Hemisphere’s largest ski resort, is in NSW’s Snowy Mountains, just two hours from Canberra and the Far South Coast. Falls Creek, Victoria’s premier all-season alpine village, offers ski-in-ski-out access in winter and transforms into an outdoor adventure hub in summer. Mount Hotham, set in the Victorian Alps, features breathtaking views, its own airport, and 320 hectares of ski terrain. Vail Resorts also operates renowned ski destinations worldwide, including Park City, Beaver Creek, Whistler Blackcomb, and Vail.
Required experience
- Tertiary qualifications in a HSE or risk management discipline
- 7+ years’ experience in a senior HSE / risk management leadership role that included team supervision
- Strong technical knowledge of HSE and risk management principles and the ability to impart this to team members
- Experience analysing and advising on HSE data metrics
- Demonstrated knowledge of health, safety and environment law in NSW and Victoria
- Demonstrated ability to achieve objectives through others, to lead, motivate, develop and supervise staff
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management, staff and regulators
To be considered for this role, applicants must have a demonstrated passion for leading teams to achieve improvement of HSE outcomes. Tertiary qualifications in an HSE or Risk Management discipline is essential. A background in the snow or tourism industries would be valued as would being a skier or snowboarder.
Remuneration will be negotiated commensurate with qualifications, experience, skills and abilities. Additional to the remuneration package, exceptional employee benefits will apply.
