Principal Engineer Project Development
Salary from: Stream A Level 7.1 ($106k) to Level 8.1 ($116k) + superannuation
Location: Shailer Park, QLD, 4128
We have an exciting opportunity for a permanent full time Principal Engineer Project Development to join the Road Infrastructure Delivery Branch within the Council.
Position responsibilities include:
- Manage assigned resources to undertake and deliver road and drainage infrastructure project development activities
- Scoping and specifying designs for capital roads, drainage, and related infrastructure projects
- Provide high levels of technical expertise within and outside the Branch including State Government Departments, service authorities and council stakeholders
- Project manage the development of specific road and drainage infrastructure capital works projects
- Project manage engineering consultancies and relevant service providers to deliver preliminary engineering plans, cost estimates and preliminary design documentation
- Acquire permits and approvals required under legislation or regulations
- Liaise with all stakeholders (i.e. community groups, elected representatives, internal/ external clients or service providers, service authorities, statutory bodies, industry groups and other stake holders)
- Mentor and coach team members to produce quality outcomes
- Actively participate in team activities and road business projects
- Maintain current knowledge and awareness of best practice in road and drainage infrastructure design
Key indicators for success:
- Demonstrated extensive experience as an engineer in Civil Engineering Design, Scoping, Estimation, and drafting activities focusing on project development
- Maintain current knowledge and awareness of best practice in road and drainage infrastructure design
- Ability to effectively communicate and negotiate with people at all levels of government and other professional organisations
- Ability to interpret legislation, policies, acts and regulations relevant to civil infrastructure design
- Experience working under limited direction and effectively supervising a team of technical staff
- Demonstrated high degree of expertise and knowledge in the use of AutoCAD, 12d civil design software will be highly regarded
- Registration as a professional engineer (RPEQ) will be highly regarded
To be considered for appointment at level 8, you need to be a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) in Civil Engineering and have a proven track record in the following:
- Providing specialist advice, assessing and reviewing standards of work of other professional personnel/external consultants
- Working under a broad level of direction, managing a work area at a higher level of ability and operating as a senior specialist
- Utilising a high level of discipline knowledge and detailed knowledge of statutory requirements
- Exercising sound judgement based on detailed knowledge of relevant policies, programs, procedures and practices.
