We are currently seeking enthusiastic and caring individuals to join our team as Disability Support Workers.
About the Role
As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities. You will provide personalised care and support to help participants achieve their goals, maintain their independence, and participate fully in their communities. Successful candidates will have availability to work a range of shifts across a 24/7 roster, including sleepover shifts and weekends.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support to NDIS participants with Physical, Intellectual and/or Psychosocial Disabilities.
- Provide high intensity support to participants with complex and multiple support requirements.
- Assist participants with daily living activities, including personal care and meal preparation.
- Support participants in social, recreational, and educational activities.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to participants.
- Maintain accurate records of participant progress and report any changes in their condition to the relevant personnel.
- Promote independence, give choice, encourage inclusivity, and respect the rights and privacy of individuals with disability.
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies or challenging situations, following established protocols and procedures.
Essential Requirements
- Relevant qualification in Community Services, Disability Support, Mental Health is highly desirable
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working with Children Check
- Current Police Check
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
- Current Australian Drivers Licence and Comprehensive Car Insurance.
- Valid right to work in Australia
About You
- 12+ months experience within disability, mental health or health care industry.
- Availability to work mornings, afternoons, active and inactive night shifts.
- A compassionate and empathetic attitude towards individuals with disabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of, or the ability to acquire knowledge of the NDIS practice standards and legislative requirements within the NDIS disability support services framework.
