Venue Manager – Outback Pub (FIFO, 2:1 Roster)
Are you looking for an exciting hospitality role in the heart of the Australian outback?
We’re seeking a hands-on Venue Manager to lead our pub, motel and bottleshop in the friendly rural town of Hughenden.
This FIFO position (2 weeks on, 1 week off) is ideal for an experienced hospitality professional who thrives in a remote setting, enjoys community engagement, and can manage day-to-day operations, accommodation, and retail sales.
The Opportunity:
Recently acquired, The Great Western Hotel is a classic outback venue that serves as a social hub for locals, travellers, and workers passing through Hughenden. The venue features a welcoming public bar, a retail bottle shop, and six motel rooms providing accommodation for guests. We have exciting renovation plans to enhance the space while preserving its authentic country charm. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a fresh chapter in the venue’s history and contribute to shaping its future.
Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:
- Management of day-to-day running of the venue to a high standard
- Delivering top-notch customer service and maintaining a welcoming atmosphere
- Engage with the local community and visiting travellers
- Staff management including recruitment and ongoing training, preparing staff rosters, timesheet approvals.
- Management of compliance with liquor licensing, gaming, food safety, and workplace health and safety requirements.
- Liaising with senior management in relation to revenue, wages, and Cost of Goods targets.
Your Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in pub or hospitality management, demonstrating a strong track record of success (pub/hotel/retail experience preferred)
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team
- Ability to work independently and in a remote setting
- Strong financial acumen and the ability to manage budgets effectively
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of service and cleanliness
- A can-do attitude and a love for outback hospitality
