The Team:
Ambulance Tasmania, as part of the broader Department of Health, is dedicated to supporting the delivery of high-quality out of hospital patient care. As a key part of the Education unit, the Clinical Support Officer role offers clinical leadership, training and education, quality assurance and continuous practice improvement strategies that supports Ambulance Tasmania clinicians within the operational working environment. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
The Role:
- Implement and/or coordinate training programs and objectives.
- Deliver an advanced level of pre-hospital clinical care in accordance with accepted procedures and protocols for Paramedics with Intensive Care qualifications.
- Advise and guide trainees.
- Monitor the standard of patient care through appropriate quality assurance processes.
- Maintain clinical excellence as an Intensive Care Paramedic.
- Review and evaluate the performance of ambulance practitioners in programs and recommend accreditation or achievement of learner competency.
- Manage the resources of the Regional Training Unit.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of in-service training and clinical practices.
- Promote and maintain the principles of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Work Health and Safety (WH&S).
- Respond to emergency and non-emergency cases as directed by the State Operational Centre to meet operational requirements.
- Actively participate in and contribute to the organisation’s Quality & Safety and Work Health & Safety processes, including in the development and implementation of safety systems, improvement initiatives, safeguarding practices for vulnerable people, and related training.
- The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document, that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying positions at this classification level.
You will need:
- Demonstrated excellence in the provision of pre-hospital emergency care.
- Capacity to respond to emergency cases and deliver advanced pre-hospital care as an Intensive Care Paramedic.
- Extensive knowledge of ambulance operations, education and training principles, clinical audit, technology and patient care clinical practice guidelines.

Details of appointment:
1x Permanent, full-time, shift worker (fully- rotational) position available in the North, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
Please Note: This process may be used to fill other vacancies to fill in South, North and North-west.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $149,182 to $152,790 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution, and composite shift work rate is on top of this amount.

Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
- Registered with the Paramedicine Board of Australia
- Holds current accreditation as an Intensive Care Paramedic with an additional qualification in training and assessment or equivalent as approved by the Service.
- Current Driver's Licence.
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
- Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching for Health Care Professionals
