The Role
The Specialist Planning Engineer provides expert wastewater engineering solutions within their area of specialisation. They support departmental and organisational goals by designing, planning, and implementing effective strategies to manage wastewater systems. This role involves analysing data, ensuring regulatory compliance, and contributing to the development of sustainable infrastructure solutions.
- Work within and across teams, liaising with engineers and specialists as necessary to ensure accurate and comprehensive outcomes
- Design and implement wastewater engineering solutions to meet organisational needs.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and environmental guidelines.
- Provide technical expertise in the planning, development and optimisation of Wastewater systems.

What we're looking for
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Planning Engineer with expertise in wastewater infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, the ability to develop innovative solutions, and a commitment to supporting departmental and organisational objectives. They should be able to analyse, plan, and optimise water and wastewater systems while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Degree in Engineering or relevant discipline, or equivalent competency
- Extensive experience applying professional engineering and problem-solving skills
- Strong technical problem-solving skills to develop innovative, sustainable solutions.
- Expertise in water and/or wastewater engineering, with a focus on system planning and optimisation.

The Details
This role can be based in either Hobart, Launceston, or Devonport (preferably Hobart) and attracts a salary of $134,887 - $153,304 (inclusive of superannuation), negotiable dependent on experience.
