About the role

We are excited to offer this newly created role of Audit and Risk Specialist to join our dynamic and experienced Governance team at TasNetworks. This role is integral to our mission of fostering a culture of risk awareness and compliance, ensuring that we effectively identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks while maintaining adherence to legislative and regulatory requirements.

As an Audit and Risk Specialist, you will be at the forefront of developing and implementing our Risk Management Framework. You will work closely with the Executive Governance, Executive Leadership Team, and the Audit, Risk, and Compliance Committee to enhance the organisation's governance, risk management, and control processes. This is a unique opportunity to lead and support a variety of internal audit projects, advisory services, and special initiatives, including data analytics and fraud investigations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement TasNetworks' Risk Management Framework.
  • Maintain and manage corporate risk registers and monitor and evaluate Enterprise Risk exposure to ensure the Risk Register is up-to-date.
  • Prepare quarterly reports for the ARCC, including dashboard reporting and risk treatment plans. Coordinate and prepare papers for ELT, ARCC, and Board meetings.
  • Develop and present monthly reports and papers on audit and risk matters.
  • Periodically review and update documents to ensure compliance with legislative requirements, including Fraud and Corruption Control, Public Interest Disclosure, and WHS Due Diligence.
  • Develop Audit and Risk compliance-based training programs for all staff and ensure accurate dissemination of information across the organization.
  • Manage compliance with legislation and regulations. Schedule, conduct, and report on internal audits. Raise Non-Compliance Reports (NCR) and follow through with corrective actions.
  • Develop and communicate the annual operational internal audit program.
  • Conduct internal audits, including scope development, stakeholder interviews, and information gathering
About you

We are looking for a candidate who embodies the following qualities:

  • You have a strong background in risk management, audit, and compliance, ideally with experience in the energy, utilities, or similar sectors.
  • Your experience may come from a ‘Big 4' firm, professional services, or a large corporate organisation.
  • You excel in collaborating within a multi-disciplinary team and are known for delivering assurance and advisory services that add tangible value.
  • Your exceptional communication skills enable you to build positive stakeholder relationships, balancing diplomacy with a proactive and strategic approach.
  • Experience with IT, continuous auditing, and data analytics is a plus, as you will engage in innovative projects that drive organisational improvement
