Adelaide Venue Management (AVM) is South Australia’s leading provider of venue management services. It is responsible for operating three of Adelaide’s most iconic venues: Adelaide Convention Centre, Adelaide Entertainment Centre, and Coopers Stadium, in addition to functions and events at The Drive.
The Role
We are seeking dedicated and reliable External Building Security Patrol Officers to join our Security and Visitors Services team. These full-time, hourly-paid roles are designed to cover overnight shifts. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of staff, clients, visitors, and assets at the Adelaide Convention Centre, with a particular focus on external areas and car parks. You will help maintain a welcoming environment while supporting operational safety across the venue.
Key Responsibilities:
- Security Operations: Perform regular external patrols around the contracted common areas, ensuring buildings, car parks, and other areas are secure.
- Crowd Control & Compliance: Enforce compliance with the Liquor Licensing Act and assist with crowd control, ensuring safe and responsible patron behaviour.
- Incident Management: Act as Chief Warden and Senior First Aid Officer when needed, ensuring a quick response to any emergencies or incidents.
- Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate logs and reports, recording all relevant security activities and incidents.
- Customer Service: Provide a friendly and welcoming experience to all genuine visitors while maintaining a high standard of security.
- Safety & Risk Management: Adhere to health, safety, and environmental protocols, reporting hazards and contributing to the safe operation of the facility.
Skills you will bring to the role:
- Security Experience: Previous experience in security roles, particularly in external patrols and crowd control, is desirable.
- Certificate II in Security Operations or equivalent.
- Current Security Licence with ‘Approved Crowd Controller’ endorsement.
- First Aid Certificate (or willing to obtain one).
- Chief Warden Certificate (or willing to obtain one).
- Valid unrestricted driver’s licence
- Physical Capabilities: Ability to perform physical tasks, including static guarding and regular patrols, and the capacity to respond quickly to emergencies.
- Communication Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to manage crowd control, assist visitors, and work collaboratively within the team.
- Time Management & Accountability: Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities while ensuring punctuality and reliability
