Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Head of Manufacturing Operations is accountable for the end-to-end management and optimisation of the manufacturing and assembly process, resources and output to deliver on SAGE's strategic plan.
The role drives product quality, efficiency and cost-effectiveness, overseeing the development and implementation of manufacturing operations and assembly, engineering design, estimation and expansion of manufacturing facilities. This includes tactical planning, scheduling, and supply chain management to ensure efficient and timely execution of manufacturing projects.
This role is responsible for driving key metrics for innovation and continuous improvement, to enhance productivity and increase revenue, whilst upholding quality standards.
It is expected the role will provide direction, guidance and development to the Manufacturing team, collaborate across the business and position SAGE in the market, as the manufacturer of choice with clients.
In this role, you will: Lead the development and implementation of the strategic plan for SAGE's manufacturing department in alignment with company strategic goals.Deliver strategic workforce planning and ensure the team is set up to meet future demands.Own the Manufacturing P&L, ensuring profitability, cost control and sustainable growth.Lead the expansion of manufacturing, including the build and workforce transition to new facilities in 2025.Oversee daily manufacturing operations, ensuring time, quality, safety, and budget requirements are met.Supervise and schedule resources, ensuring efficient project execution and workforce utilisation.Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the Manufacturing team, with a focus on the continuous development of skills and expertise to meet the needs of our customers.Ensure succession planning is in place, and identified successors have a fit for purpose training plan to develop the pipeline of talent for future opportunities and mitigate risk.Implement quality control measures that effectively monitor products and guarantee desired quality.Proactively identify and address bottlenecks in manufacturing and assembly processes, technical issues and emergent risks.Lead initiatives to improve workplace safety, reduce environmental impacts, and ensure compliance with all HSE regulations.
About you:
We're seeking an accomplished professional with deep industry knowledge and proven leadership capabilities within a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate brings:A relevant qualification in manufacturing, project management or business management (Desirable).A minimum of 10+ years' experience leading a multi-functional manufacturing facility or industrial automation assembly, driving best practice through processes, procedures and safe systems of work.Strong financial acumen with demonstrated ability to manage a significant P&L, drive revenue and manage costsCommercial astuteness with excellent communication and negotiation skills.Strategic thinking and planning capabilities aligned with business objectives.Deep understanding of operational effectiveness and process improvement.
