Job Title: Side Loader Waste Truck Operator
Job Overview: We are looking for a dedicated and reliable Side Loader Waste Truck Operator to join our team. This role requires operating a side-loading waste truck to efficiently collect waste from residential, commercial, and industrial clients. The successful candidate will need to have a strong driving history, be safety-conscious, and demonstrate a can-do attitude. Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a side loader waste truck to collect and dispose of waste from designated pickup areas.
- Ensure the proper use of the side-loading mechanism to lift and empty bins accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain high standards of safety and adhere to Company OHS policies and best practices at all times.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in safe operating condition.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch and other team members to ensure smooth operations and timely collections.
- Follow waste disposal regulations and guidelines to ensure environmentally responsible and compliant waste management.
- Maintain accurate records of daily routes, waste collected, and truck maintenance.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean and safe working environment both inside and outside the truck.
- Handle any issues or concerns that arise during daily operations in a professional manner.
- Assist with the proper handling and segregation of recyclable and non-recyclable materials.
To be successful in this role, you must:
- Hold a valid HR (Heavy Rigid) driver's license as a minimum.
- Have a good driving history (a current driving record will be required to be presented at the interview).
- Be available to start early in the mornings and be flexible with work hours as required.
- Be reliable, honest, and a strong team player who works well with others.
- Be safety-conscious and able to adhere to Company OHS policies and best practice standards.
- Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with both customers and team members effectively.
- Have strong attention to detail to ensure all tasks are completed correctly and efficiently.
- Demonstrate a can-do attitude with enthusiasm and a willingness to contribute positively to the team.
Requirements:
- Valid HR driver's license.
- Strong driving history with a clear record (to be verified during interview).
- Ability to work early mornings and in various weather conditions.
- Previous experience in waste collection or truck driving is an advantage, but not essential.
- Strong focus on safety and adherence to industry standards.
- Good physical fitness, as the job may require manual handling of waste bins.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Working Conditions:
- Outdoor work in all weather conditions.
- Early start times (may include weekends).
- Physical tasks including lifting and handling waste bins.
