About the role:
We're seeking a couple to fill two complementary management positions on Bathurst Island, 80km north of Darwin in the Tiwi Islands. Due to the sensitive cultural context and traditional gender roles within the local Indigenous community, we specifically require one male and one female manager to work as a team.
Please note due to living arrangements, these roles will be best suited to a couple.
Management Role 1 (Male)
- Driving tour vehicles (LR license with H endorsement required)
- Supervising male staff members
- Maintaining vehicles and machinery (weekly checks, refueling)
- Organising diesel fuel supplies
- Collecting freight via barge
- Coordinating guest arrivals and tour dispatch
- Liaising with Darwin operations regarding tour manifests
- Setting up and packing down tour facilities
- Property and grounds maintenance
- Chainsaw operation for firewood
- Community liaison with local authorities
Management Role 2 (Female)
- Supervising female staff members
- Managing staff uniforms and laundry
- Preparing staff breakfasts
- Managing food inventory and catering needs
- Creating and presenting buffet lunches for tour groups
- Assisting with guest arrivals and departures
- Overseeing cabin allocation and preparation
- Staff training and timesheet management
- Supporting Management Role 1 as needed
About you:
The ideal candidates will possess:
- LR license with H endorsement (required for male role)
- Current Senior First Aid certification
- Previous remote community experience (highly regarded)
- Strong customer service skills
- Team management experience
- Excellent communication abilities
- Superior organisational skills and attention to detail
- Adaptability and problem-solving capabilities
- Strong conflict management skills
- Tourism/travel industry experience (advantageous but not essential)
