Our team is seeking an organised and detail-oriented Legal Support Team Leader to oversee and manage our legal support staff. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in ensuring our legal support team works efficiently, effectively, and with a high standard of service to our clients and lawyers.
Job Description
As the Legal Support Team Leader , you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of our legal support staff, including paralegals, legal assistants, and administrative personnel. You will play a key role in ensuring that our team operates smoothly, deadlines are met, and the firm delivers exceptional service to our family law clients.
You will report into the local Legal Practice Director and the CFO/COO of the national firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage legal support staff, including paralegals, legal assistants, and administrative personnel.
- Assign and prioritise tasks to support staff to ensure deadlines and client expectations are met.
- Provide guidance, training, and ongoing support to legal support team members.
- Collaborate with Lawyers and other firm leaders to ensure efficient workflows and matter management.
- Monitor matter progress and help ensure proper file organisation, document management, and adherence to legal procedures.
- Assist in managing client communications and ensuring that all necessary documents are prepared and filed in a timely manner.
- Oversee timekeeping, billing, and other administrative functions for legal support staff.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legal regulations and firm policies.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a family law firm or legal environment is preferred.
- Proven experience in supervising or managing other legal support or administrative staff or teams.
- Exceptional organisational and time management skills in a high performance environment
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with clients, Lawyers, other legal experts, and colleagues professionally.
- Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and manage competing deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
- Proficiency with legal software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
