The Role

The ILS Lead Logistics Engineer oversees the integration and development of engineering activities to establish a fit-for-purpose support system that aligns with project objectives, including the Provisional Operating Support Intent (POSI) and Functional Performance Specifications (FPS). This role leads a team of logistics engineers and officers, providing technical oversight and ensuring the delivery of high-quality logistics engineering artefacts. Acting as the central point for logistics engineering, the role supports cross-functional collaboration with engineering, training, and technical publications teams while adhering to Naval policies and standards.


Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of logistics engineers, officers, and contractors across national and international locations.
  • Manage resources, allocate tasks, and oversee team performance to meet project milestones and contractual commitments.
  • Plan weekly and monthly team activities, ensuring targets are met and implementing mitigation plans when required.
  • Provide technical oversight, review, and approval of logistics engineering artefacts, ensuring compliance with Naval policies and standards.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of key documents, including Support System Specifications (SSSPEC), Usage and Upkeep Plans (UUP), and Life Cycle Cost (LCC) reports.
  • Conduct analyses such as Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM), and Level of Repair Analysis (LORA) to support maintenance and supply strategies.
  • Collaborate with engineering, Logistic Support Analysis, training, and technical publications teams to align support system requirements.
  • Exchange logistics analysis outcomes with internal and external stakeholders to ensure cohesive support system development.
  • Lead logistics engineering contributions to Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) documentation and deliverables.


Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Reliability, or Engineering Logistics.
  • A minimum of 7 years' experience in logistics or reliability engineering within complex project environments, including team leadership.
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional teams, allocate resources effectively, and meet project objectives.
  • Strong operational knowledge of marine systems and shipbuilding processes.
  • Proficiency in logistics engineering tools, including FMECA, RCM, and LORA analysis.
