The Opportunity

Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for a Mechanical Reliability Engineer in our Ore Preparation team based in Port Kembla . As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

The Ore Preparation team supports our Sinter Plant and the Raw Materials Handling Area at our Port Kembla manufacturing facility. The Raw Materials required for the smelting process within the Sinter plant are imported by ship, road and rail. As the Reliability Engineer, you will encourage continuous improvement, provide strategic problem solving and planning of materials handling equipment whilst ensuring value and compliance for Ore Preparation.

What Will You Do?

Managing and developing the maintenance strategies of the overall mechanical plant, you’ll drive continuous improvement and reliability of mechanical assets within the department. You will also:

  • ensuring safety standards are never compromised making suitable changes when risks and opportunities are identified
  • investigate, fault find, and problem solve long term/systemic equipment issues to eliminate potential causes to determine the root cause and develop subsequent corrective actions
  • develop detailed scope of works and Inspection Test Procedures and commissioning plans for Materials handling equipment
  • plan, coordinate and execute minor projects as required including multi trade discipline works for equipment improvement projects

More About You

As an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual, you quickly adapt and have an eagerness to learn. You’ll bring:

  • a mechanical trade - a diploma or mechanical/mechatronic engineering degree will be highly regarded or a willingness to complete a diploma
  • a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others
  • mechanical experience in an industrial setting
  • an understanding and knowledge of Mechanical and/or Structural, construction and statutory safety requirements
