About This Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer (Academic Level B) and a Senior Lecturer (Academic Level C) to focus their efforts on growing their profile in research, teaching and service and engagement. As a teaching and research academic at Level B or C, you will aspire to achieve international recognition in your field of research.

You will engage as a Lecturer or as a Senior Lecturer in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision and further development of the school’s programs, to undertake research of high quality, and to perform service and engagement activities associated with the School.

The Level B position is for a Lecturer in Macroeconomics.

The Level C position is for a Senior Lecturer in Development and Agricultural Economics.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Teaching: Develop and deliver courses, engage in curriculum design, coordinate courses, assess students, provide academic counselling, and adhere to university teaching rules.
  • Research: Establish a research program, collaborate on research projects, seek and manage research funding, publish in reputable journals, utilize best practice research methodologies, and participate in project discussions.
  • Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise students, recruit and manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits.
  • Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values.

About You

For Level B
Applicants should possess a PhD in Economics or a directly relevant field. Additionally, you will demonstrate:

  • A growing profile in teaching and research in Macroeconomics.
  • Evidence of a current and active program of research, expected to lead to publications in world leading and internationally excellent journals, and a pipeline of research-in-progress targeting world leading and internationally excellent journals..
  • Evidence of the ability to provide a high level of quality teaching at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate level across a variety of settings, including in Advanced Macroeconomics courses, and including in small and large groups.
  • Ability to coordinate courses and contribute to the development and continuous innovation of new programs, curriculum design and course material in the discipline area, including in Advanced Macroeconomics.
  • Evidence of the ability to supervise Honours and Research Higher Degree students to successful completion.
  • Evidence of successfully seeking, or intending to seek, obtain and manage external research funding.
  • Experience in meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with active contributions to external activities.

For Level C

Applicants should possess a PhD in Economics or a directly relevant field. Additionally, you will demonstrate:

  • An established profile in teaching and research in Development and Agricultural Economics.
  • Evidence of a current and active program of research, with a demonstrable and significant track record of publications in world leading and internationally excellent journals, and a pipeline of research-in-progress targeting world leading and internationally excellent journals.
  • A strong record of successfully obtaining and managing external research funding.
  • Evidence of a high level of quality teaching at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate level across a variety of settings, including small and large groups.
  • A strong track record of course coordination and participation in the development and continuous innovation of new programs, curriculum design and course material in the discipline area.
  • A solid record of supervision of Honours and Research Higher Degree students to successful completion.
  • A growing record of meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with a strong contribution to external activities.

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check etc.
