About the role
South West Healthcare (SWH) has an exciting opportunity for a Midwifery Educator (ME), available for a passionate, motivated and experienced Midwife to lead and support a culture of development and enquiry which actively encourages and facilitates clinical, professional, and organisational learning.
The ME is a pivotal position within the clinical area supporting evidence-based practice and development of the novice clinician. This position will report to and work closely with the Midwife Unit Manager and liaise with the Nursing Education Manager and network broadly with the Quality Team. You will be responsible for facilitating workplace learning through clinical teaching, supervision, assessment, and support for all staff. This includes supporting learners within the following programs: Graduate and Postgraduate program.
The ME is accountable at an advanced practice level for the design, implementation, and assessment of midwifery education programs, managing educational resources and providing midwifery expertise relating to educational issues in the maternity environment.

* Employment Type: Part time (64 hours per fortnight), On-going position

* Salary Range: $119,329.60 pro rata, plus superannuation
What you bring
* Must hold current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife with no conditions.
* The successful candidate will be capable of using advanced clinical skills, proven teaching methods and superior communication skills to drive improvement in nurse education and evidence-based practice. They will be expected to show initiative and flexibility in their approach to the role, with a high regard for professional and clinical standards.
* You will be a clinician that is able work independently as well as in a team and will have demonstrated abilities in maternal education, programme development and planning.
* Demonstrated ability to plan quality learning experiences which support education and training practice which meet the learner's objectives.
* Demonstrated ability to optimise the facilitation of the learning experience for learners.
* Demonstrated effective communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills at an advanced level.
* Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to professional standards and competencies.
* Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to the NMBA professional standards for practice, codes of conduct and code of ethics for the Registered Nurse/Midwife.
* Computer literacy to high level.
* Relevant post basic/tertiary qualifications or working towards.
