About You


Are you a data enthusiast ready to lead our enterprise data quality initiatives? We’re seeking a skilled Data Governance Specialist to drive our data management efforts and empower RMIT to make data-driven decisions.

You will lead the enterprise-wide data quality program by engaging stakeholders to understand business challenges and translating them into technical solutions, all while supporting effective scale of our Data & Analytics Platform (DAP) to ensure we provide trusted models and insights. Collaborate with executive leaders to enhance data quality standards across diverse domains, develop and promote processes to prevent common data quality issues, and partner with teams to educate and engage them in best practices for supporting self-service data environments.

To be successful in this position, you’ll bring:

  • Leadership in shaping strategy, direction, and oversight of information management capabilities, with a proactive stance on embedding policy and procedures.

  • Expertise in organizing and guiding executive forums, facilitating effective discussions and decision-making, and ensuring governance and compliance through collaboration.

  • Proficiency in monitoring and enhancing data quality across key domains, coupled with the ability to work closely with stakeholders to address data-related challenges.

  • Exceptional skills in communication, presentation, and collaboration, along with a proven ability to negotiate and persuade at the executive level.

  • Experience in business analysis, with a demonstrated ability to define requirements and business objectives.

  • Strong project management skills, adept at prioritising and delegating tasks across multiple stakeholders.

  • Strong understanding of data and analytics environments and how these can be used effectively to enable business value.

Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.

About the Group

Office of the Chief Data & Analytics Officer supports and enables RMIT’s business strategy by leading and driving the data and analytics agenda for the enterprise. This involves being accountable and responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing RMIT’s data and analytics strategy and ensuring ongoing alignment with university

  • Defining requirements and standards for data and analytics technologies to be delivered by Information Technology

  • Coordinating and governing data management activities for analytics and reporting

  • Developing and coordinating advanced analytics capabilities to resolve key university challenges
