Group Customer Relations (GCR) sits within the Chief Operations Office (COO) division at CommBank. As a part of GCR, the Forensic Accounting team is responsible for calculating compensation to assist with the resolution of customer complaints due to Bank error. We develop tools and models to accurately calculate compensation, and work with internal stakeholders to aid Group wide consistency. The team also provides compensation advice and assistance to remediation projects and various business units across the Group.

Do work that matters

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Forensic Accounting, the Forensic Accounting Specialist is responsible for calculating the compensation amount offered to customers to resolve an issue or complaint. They will also guide and support others in the Group to execute an approved compensation methodology or, where required, devise a new approach and solution to the issue.

More specifically you will:

  • Be a dedidated expert in the quantification of compensation amounts and improve the process through:
  • Be accurate in compensation calculation
  • Provide subject matter expertise
  • Provide advice and support on determining compensation matters
  • Effectively communicate and liaise with key stakeholders on method and outcomes
  • Ensure quality customer experiences and fair outcomes on customer complaints and remediation programs
  • Advocate for accuracy and innovation in the compensation process
  • Understand the external dispute resolution approaches, regulations or legislation applicable to your role
  • Promote Group level standardized compensation strategies and approaches, including: Customer loss methodology and Customer loss calculation
  • Promote excellence with SME insights

We want to hear from you:

  • You have a Bachelor degree minimum (Business, Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Economics)
  • You are a Qualified accountant or seeking qualification (preferred)
  • Experience with financial models or loss and damage calculation
  • Experience in solving complex problems backed up with research and rationale
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience working in Forensic Accounting/Accounting/Finance or similar
  • Experience in a dispute resolution support or investigation environment is desirable
