About the Portfolio

The Operations Portfolio enables an integrated, enterprise-wide delivery for best practice student and staff experiences.

The Portfolio incorporates the following business units: Enterprise Projects and Business Performance (EPBP), Communications, Experience, People, Information and Technology Services (ITS), Office of the Chief Operating Officer, Procurement and Property Services Group (PSG) and Vietnam Operations.

The Portfolio houses significant drivers and delivery components across the staff and student journeys and enables the overall experience for both groups. The Portfolio is integral in bringing the RMIT strategy to life, across the globe. Each of these functions supports the global operations of the University both directly as well as through its controlled entities.

The Experience function’s vision is to bring to life RMIT’s strategy by putting the student and all of RMIT’s audiences at the heart of everything that we do and delivering a CX vision and insights to help guide the University deliver on our promise. The function is responsible for Global Marketing and our Brand, Digital and CX, Student Recruitment and Admissions, Market Intelligence and Propositions (product and pricing strategy), Alumni and Engagement and University Lifecycle Technology. The 300+ Experience team who are based across Australia, Vietnam, India and several other hubs, strive to deliver amazing experiences for all of our audiences through contemporary ways of working.

The Role

Working as part of the University Lifecycle Portfolio, the Senior Developer is actively involved in enhancing the RMIT Learning Management Systems (and broader learning platform ecosystem) that support the core educational practices of the University. The Senior Developer will work with stakeholders from leveraging Agile practices, development of solutions and work with other developers, testers and analysts to deliver sustainable stakeholder-centric enhancements.

The Senior Developer provides a range (analysis, design, development, implementation, and support) of sophisticated technical software development services aimed primarily at enhancing, building, and maintaining the University’s systems. This position has technical leadership responsibilities in project work and thought leadership in the recommendation of new technologies and standards.

Skills & Experience

• Provide a range of complex software technical services to support the design, development, implementation, and production operations of existing and new corporate applications,

• Lead the technical aspects of large-scale business applications development, implementation, and support projects.

• Undertake specific high-level technical tasks in supporting and maintaining applications as directed.

• Develop and maintain system documentation as directed.

• Extensive experience in enterprise application software development, including analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, documentation, and support - A thorough understanding of the SDLC.

• Technical Skills: Full Stack Development Desirable, Language/Framework: Java, NodeJS., Build/Source Control/CI: GIT, CVS, Docker, AWS Codebuild, Planning Tool: JIRA, Confluence, Databases: DB2, Oracle, MySQL, Web Technologies: JSP, Javascript frameworks like React, Testing frameworks: API testing
