The Project Manager will lead a broader change team reporting to and working closely with the Senior Manager Design Programs and Project Office Manager. This role is responsible for leading and managing the successful delivery of Cabin projects (retrofit/line fit). It provides leadership support of the end-to-end project, including governance, resourcing, business case, stakeholder management, communications, project management. Reporting to the Project management Office, this role will provide regular updates to the Steering committee. The role will take responsibility for the timely completion of the delivery of new products and aircraft entry into service. It will also take responsibility for the regular updating of key project risks, decision points and improvement opportunities.
The role operates within an Agile environment and aligns to Qantas aircraft strategy and approach. High level accountabilities for this role will include identifying and mitigating complex project change impacts and risks; developing complex change plans and contributing to portfolio heat maps at a senior management level; developing communications to ensure people, process and technology changes are clearly translated into business value at all layers of the Group; managing business change readiness in line with portfolio changes and timelines. The role requires a minimum of 5+ years of experience operating in a project environment and requires a sound knowledge of project and change management disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Designs and develops plans to shape, prioritise and resource projects/programmes to ensure they fit in with overall business strategy
- Develops and oversees mechanisms to track and report on the progress against objectives of projects/programs in order to monitor success and provide updates
- Manages relationships with vendors and measure their effectiveness to ensure relationship and contractual obligations are met
- Act as the authority across all issue escalation channels for all relevant programme / project stakeholders
- Oversee the continuous review and improvement of project management policies, systems and processes to ensure they are fit-for-purpose
- Partners and closely collaborates with internal stakeholders to ensure success of projects, programs and change initiatives
- Provides leadership, coaching and mentoring to the team to ensure their growth, development and performance
- Have 5+ years Aviation and/or multi-million-dollar project experience
- Lead the detailed project plan, with multi-disciplinary view to manage and achieve project outcomes, on time and within budget
- Ensure project is being appropriately supported and resourced to deliver the objectives
- Develop business plans, cases within the overarching project to realise the project objectives for Qantas Group
- Use change pulse checks and readiness assessments to track ongoing project and business confidence on change management
- Provide technical support across a matrix environment capturing all key areas for EIS, such as engineering, flight operations, airport operations, customer service
- Communicate at all levels, especially with the Board and GMC, be influential, organised and effective
- Confidently facilitate steering groups, cross-functional forums, working groups, and resolve issues in all of these settings.
