About the role
Mater Cancer Care Centre (MCCC) has three exciting opportunities for a Clinical Nurse (CN) to join the team at South Brisbane. Opportunities outlined below:
1 x permanent full time
1 x permanent 0.8 capacity
1 x maximum term part time 24 hours per week until 30th June 2025
Mater Cancer Care Centre (MCCC) aims to offer services to both public and private patients within a modern state-of-the-art facility which provides individually personalised, comprehensive and compassionate care. The MCCC includes specialist suites for Oncology, Haematology and Palliative Care, cancer care treatment pods, support programs and a specialised pharmacy and pathology service.
Specialising in woman’s cancers, haematology, oncology and palliative care with a dedicated Apheresis Service, this busy unit coordinates up to 80 treatments per day and works closely with our South Brisbane private and public Cancer Care wards including outreach to the Mater Redland and Springfield hospitals.
Salary range: $54.44 - $58.30 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
This role will see your responsibilities in assisting and supporting the Nurse Unit Manager and nursing team, in agreed leadership and clinical functions within a specified area, including operational management functions of human and material resources relevant to the specialty. As a Clinical Nurse you are also required to initiate problem solving skills, participate in education and staff development, contribute strongly to the quality/accreditation process and ultimately aim at improving patient care outcomes relevant to their clinical area.
About you
The successful candidate will be hard working, enthusiastic and able to show initiative. You will be approachable with a mature and confident attitude, can work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team.
To be considered for this position, you must have:
- Apheresis operator experience desirable (full time role)
- Current AHPRA nursing registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
- Post-graduate qualifications in Cancer Nursing or related discipline
- Minimum 5 years current RN experience in an Oncology/Haematology setting
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and share knowledge with less-experienced staff
- Excellent communication, problem solving and negotiation skills
