Shape the Future of Our City's Natural and Built EnvironmentWe are seeking an experienced professional to lead our Heritage and Resilience Planning team. This role offers an opportunity to drive initiatives that protect and enhance our city's natural surroundings, cultural legacy, and resilience to future challenges. Reporting to the General Manager Sustainability, Heritage, and Compliance, the Manager will oversee a business unit of approximately 40 specialists, providing leadership across environmental and heritage governance, planning policies, and disaster risk management.
About Your New Role
The role is responsible for developing and implementing heritage, resilience, and natural hazard planning policies to support strategic land use and infrastructure decisions. A key focus will be providing expert advice on natural hazards, including bushfires, floods, and coastal risks, to inform city planning and disaster preparedness. The position also plays a critical role in cultural heritage protection and First Nations engagement, ensuring policies and assessments align with legislative requirements.
In addition to overseeing environmental and vegetation assessments for sustainable development, the Manager will work to balance preservation efforts with responsible growth. Success in this role will require strong leadership in environmental policy and governance, along with the ability to influence strategy at a high level. The position involves working closely with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, industry leaders, and research institutions, to achieve best-practice environmental outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have extensive leadership experience in heritage, resilience, or environmental planning, along with expertise in natural hazard risk assessment, disaster management, and environmental governance. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills will be essential to advocate for best practices and drive positive change across the organisation.
