About us:

The Central Queensland Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service provides specialist care for mental health, substance use, and alcohol-related issues across Rockhampton, Yeppoon, Gladstone, Banana Shire, Woorabinda, and Central Highlands, serving a population of over 250,000.

About the role:

This role provides high-quality psychiatry services and clinical leadership within the Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs Service. It may require service delivery across multiple locations, including hospitals in Gladstone, Biloela, Blackwater, Emerald, and Moura, as well as outreach clinics in Woorabinda, Gemfields, and Capricorn Coast. Preference is given to candidates with expertise or certification in Psychiatry of Old Age, though General Adult Psychiatrists may also be considered. As part of the Central Queensland Hospital and Health Service, the specialist may be required to provide care at any facility within the region, aligned with each site's clinical capability.

About you:
  • The position requires a candidate with a solid background in psychiatric practice. The successful candidate will also demonstrate extensive skills in facilitating effective mental health care across the continuum of Psychiatry of Old Age inpatient and community settings and within a multidisciplinary environment.
  • MBBS or equivalent eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration as a Specialist in Psychiatry with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency (AHPRA). In general, this will require Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP).
  • Preference will be given to candidates who hold the Certificate in Psychiatry of Old Age or have an interest in Psychiatry of Old Age.
  • Eligibility for accreditation as a RANZCP-approved supervisor.
  • Enrolment and maintenance of ongoing CME program with the appropriate bodies.
What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $528,432 p.a. is comprised of:

  • A salary rate between $251,527 - $266,667 p.a. (L25-L27)
  • A salary rate between $210,332 - $244,313 p.a. (L18-L24)
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
