Gooding’s Transport is a long-standing transport business celebrating over 40 years in the industry (1983-2025) with an outstanding safety record. We operate a fleet of new/late model prime movers and trailers for interstate transport services.

We are currently seeking an experienced Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic to join our team.

This opportunity would suit those seeking either direct employment or ABN holders. If you are currently self-employed and want to grow your mechanical business, or you are motivated to start your own business or partner with Goodings Transport, there is an opportunity to combine the management of our fleet maintenance with your existing or new business working from our depot/workshop based at Ormeau. Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Managing the fleet preventative maintenance (prime movers and trailers)
  • Managing all fault repairs (prime movers and trailers)
  • Managing breakdowns/serious faults (across our 24/7 operations)
  • Coordinating repairs with reputable third party repairers as required
  • Liaising with manufacturers for warranty issues

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • Trade qualifications (e.g., Cert III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated experience as a multi-skilled mechanic working on prime movers and trailers
  • Demonstrated experience diagnosing, prioritising, and resolving faults
  • Good problem solving skills for troubleshooting and managing repairs on the road/away from our depot
  • Attention to detail and commitment to a high standard of quality work
  • Good initiative and communication skills
