About the program:
AIR6500 is the RAAF’s $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked ‘system of systems’ that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace.
About the role :
Reporting to the Certification Lead, the Senior Certification Engineer will support the planning and execution of AIR6500 Certification and Certification Testing activities. In this role, you will:
- Assist in developing and maintaining the AIR6500-1 Technical Certification Plan, along with supporting plans, processes, and work instructions.
- Contribute to establishing and maintaining the AIR6500-1 Technical Certification Basis within a Model-Based Engineering (MBE) framework.
- Address certification-related matters and concerns raised by the Commonwealth partner, Systems Safety Team, and AIR6500 IPTs.
- Support discussions with the Commonwealth partner on Certification and Certification Testing.
- Contribute to achieving JABMS acceptance and certification.
- Collaborate with Specialty Engineering, Product Teams, and Systems Engineering to ensure certification processes align with Objective Evidence requirements.
About you :
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Degree qualifications in a relevant Engineering Discipline or relevant industry experience.
- Strong experience with the systems engineering lifecycle and methodologies.
- In-depth knowledge of Defence Test & Evaluation processes and Verification & Validation (V&V).
- Expertise in defence systems/certification processes related to areas such as Tactical Data Links (TDL), Joint Data Networks (JDN), communications, security, safety, Identification Friend or Foe (IFF), platforms and environmental compliance.
- Extensive knowledge of Australian regulations and certification requirements.
- Proven success in delivering outcomes within large, complex project teams.
- Strong experience in contractual processes and managing deliverables.
- The ability to apply sound judgment and innovative problem-solving to complex challenges.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly and collaborate across teams.
- An Australian NV-1 security clearance and ability to access/handle Export Controlled technology, data and information.
