Employee Relations (ER) Consultant
$60-$70 per hour, based on skills and experience, plus 25% casual loading and superannuation
Full time weekly hours / Immediate Start
The WA Local Government Association (WALGA) is currently seeking an experienced professional who has a strong understanding of state and federal employment legislation and excellent customer service skills to join our amazing ER team to deliver timely, accurate and practical advice to our local government clients.
We are looking for a quick learner to fill a short-term 6-8 week role, covering for one of our consultants on leave.
The ideal candidate should be available to start immediately!
What does a typical day look like?
• Providing verbal and / or written advice in response to client enquiries about human resource and or industrial matters that are within the employee relations subscription service charter.
• Delivering timely, accurate and consistent advice in a clear and professional manner that ensures the client’s requirements have been met
• Reviewing and providing necessary feedback on written responses to client enquiries prepared by ER Consultants and Advisors to ensure responses address the client’s enquiry in an accurate, consistent and professional manner
• Entering all interactions with clients in the CRM, ensuring it is kept up-to-date
• Maintaining record keeping requirements and ensure documents are named and saved according to protocols
What will make you successful in this role?
• Experience working within the State and Federal industrial relations systems (State essential)
• Sound understanding of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), Industrial Relations Act 1979 (WA), Minimum Conditions of Employment Act 1993 (WA), anti-discrimination legislation and other employment legislation.
• Experience in interpreting and applying industrial instruments
• Demonstrated understanding and application of contemporary Human Resource Management practices
• Sound interpersonal skills with the ability to contribute to discussions, acknowledge the opinions of others and be receptive to feedback
• Ability to manage competing priorities and manage work to meet deadlines
