Sessional Lecturer – Early Childhood Education

Victoria University (VU) has partnered with the Education Centre of Australia since 2007, to deliver courses in Sydney. We offer diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Accounting, Business Analytics, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Information Technology/Systems, Cybersecurity and Early Childhood Education.
We are seeking suitably qualified and experienced individuals for sessional Lecturer roles to teach Early Childhood units within our undergraduate Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (EBEC) and postgraduate Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood (EGEC) programs. If you have appropriate academic qualifications and teaching experience and have what it takes to be a part of dynamic teaching team of VU Sydney, we would like to hear from you.
Required Subject Expertise:
- Early Childhood
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high quality lecturing/tutoring to students in accordance with VU curricula
- Manage VU Collaborate (VU’s online learning systems) for your unit/s
- Create and maintain an innovative learning environment for students to meet learning outcomes and satisfactorily complete their assessment tasks
- Identify students who are ‘at risk’ of failing a unit and assist them via the appropriate referral to Learning Support team
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development sessions as required
- Provide on-going student support both face to face and online through email/VU collaborate online learning system
- Assure the quality of the assessment and examination processes as directed by the Course Coordinator
- Support the Course Coordinator as required through the provision of academic advice to students, administrative tasks and completion of reports
- Adhere to VU Sydney policies and procedures as instructed by the relevant Course Coordinator
- Ensure Victoria University courses are offered in compliance with all legislative and quality requirements, particularly those prescribed by the ESOS Act.
As the successful candidate you will ideally have:
- Qualifications in Early Childhood or a relevant discipline
- Experience in teaching courses at the higher education diploma, undergraduate or postgraduate level
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent time management with attention to detail
- An ability to work with multiple stakeholders and to manage effective working relationships
- Experience with international students
- Relevant professional and/or industry experience is desirable
- Valid Working with Childrens Check
- Graduate certificate in tertiary teaching is desirable
