The Role
The Accountant is primarily responsible for the month end close process ensuring that the monthly accounts are produced in a timely and efficient manner with a high level of accuracy. This role will also provide cover to the Senior Accounts Officer with the payables process and support the finance team with other duties as appropriate.
Key Deliverables and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the end to end month end close process including reconciliation of the general ledger to the bank statements and other source systems interfaces.
- Responsible for preparing the monthly Board reporting pack under the supervision of the Finance Manager
- Maintain fixed asset register, property and facilities including depreciation schedules and reconciliations
- Responsible for the preparation of FBT return
- Assistance with preparation of Income Tax return
- Assist the Finance Manager with Investment reconciliation and reporting on investment portfolio
- Assist with accounts payable function, ensuring invoices received are accurate and matched with the relevant purchase orders
- Supporting the Finance Manager with the preparation and submission of statutory returns as required
- Reconciliation of Payroll accounts and preparation of Payroll journals
- Keep up to date with with internal controls, company policies and procedures
- Be involved as team member, in finance department continuous improvement initiatives and projects
- Assisting team members and undertake other Finance Department duties as appropriate.
Skills and Experience
- At least 4 years financial accounting experience preferable in the financial services industry
- Exposure to activities such as general accounting, financial analysis and reporting
- Proactive mindset, positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Team player and ability to collaborate across the business
- Adaptable and flexible in approach
- Strong attention to detail
- Good listening and communication skills
- Ability to analyse and communicate financial information
- Sound knowledge of organisational accounting procedures
Formal Qualifications
- Degree, formal finance qualification or working towards a finance qualification (CPA/CA)
