About the Role

An opportunity has become available for a Buyer in Mango Hill for Downer’s Energy & Utilities business unit reporting to the Commercial Manager. The Buyer is responsible for sourcing the right materials and services, at the right cost, at the right time and location, in support of a regional portfolio of projects/contracts for Downer Energy & Utilities business. The ideal candidate will envision themselves attending to duties such as:

• Ensure all purchasing activity occurs in accordance with the Downer Standard, including monitoring compliance to P2P processes and DFA
• Support the procurement manager/lead to implement opportunities to optimise third party spend and improve cost base or improve performance/quality issues
• Ensure all projects and contracts are covered by an active procurement plan that meets the requirements of the head contract and considers social, indigenous, and sustainability outcomes
• Collaborate with peers across Supply Chain Management to ensure seamless delivery of supply chain and procurement activity across the project/contract lifecycle
• Carry out sourcing and contracting activity as required under a procurement plan, including carrying out RFx activity, negotiating prices, terms and delivery schedules

About You

• Good working knowledge of procure-to-pay and source-to-contract processes, preferably in the energy, utilities or construction industries
• Proficiency in ERP and procurement/project software and Microsoft Office Suite
• Resourceful, proactive and hands-on, with a problem-solving mindset
• Good intrapersonal skills – ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
