About the opportunity…
We seek a Senior Archaeologist/Heritage Consultant to join our expanding Melbourne-based Archaeology team. Expressions of interest from all suitably qualified and experienced candidates are encouraged. This role will feed your passion for historical and Aboriginal archaeology and cultural heritage.
Technical proficiency in these areas coupled with your excellent communication and project management skills will help you deliver quality outcomes for heritage, clients, Traditional Owners, and community stakeholders.
- Plan, manage and deliver a range of archaeological work and projects including due diligence assessments, cultural heritage management plans, historical archaeological assessments and impact statements, Aboriginal cultural values assessments, investigation and research, site inspections/fieldwork and archaeological monitoring, GIS mapping and more.
- Collaborate with our consulting team across a range of heritage services and disciplines such as built heritage and interpretation to deliver projects.
- Manage and grow client relationships, including preparation of proposals and tenders.
About you…
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (with honours or equivalent) in Archaeology
- Listed Heritage Advisor
- 6+ years’ experience in a heritage consulting role/environment including the preparation of high-quality client advice, reports, budgets, and other documentation
- Excellent communication skills adaptable to stakeholder/audience
- Demonstrated experience in archaeology project teams – as a project member or manager – experienced with managing budgets, scope, resources and managing client relations
- Passionate about archaeology, cultural heritage, and the interests of First Peoples – experience in building relationships and working with Traditional Owner organisations and Registered Aboriginal Party groups
- Ability and willingness to travel and spend time away from home for projects involving archaeological fieldwork
- Commercially savvy with experience addressing client requirements
- Understanding of relevant legislative/statutory requirements in Victoria, or a demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to Victorian regulatory frameworks quickly
- Consultation experience with Traditional Owner organisations and Registered Aboriginal Party groups
- Experience in both historical and Aboriginal archaeology is an advantage
- Unrestricted Australian drivers license
- Construction industry “White Card”
- Workplace first aid (can be obtained after commencement)
