We have multiple exciting roles for experienced and dynamic individuals wishing to join the Corporate Reporting and Performance Analysis teams in the AFP’s Strategy and Performance Office and contribute to the delivering strategic projects.

The Strategy and Performance Office (SPO) command is focused on ideas, influence, and insights. SPO maximises the AFP’s operational impact by translating our strategic intent into whole-of-agency activity and providing influence with Government and key external stakeholders. The command plays a critical role in handling key priorities, turning strategic ideas into improvements and resources, and facilitating strong decision-making across the agency. SPO provides a fast-paced, challenging and rewarding work environment.

The Corporate Reporting and Performance Analysis teams facilitate quality advice and business intelligence to AFP executives, delivery of our public performance reporting and curate the agency’s performance framework.

What will you do?

Corporate Reporting

The Corporate Reporting team delivers key projects that ensure the AFP meets legislative reporting obligations and supports regular agency-wide engagements regarding performance management. Team members are responsible for:

  • Applying project management and stakeholder engagement skills to support the timely and high-quality delivery of projects (e.g. the Annual Report and Corporate Plan).
  • Ensure activities align with legislative and business requirements, including applying standards of good practice in reporting and strategic planning.
  • Coordinating procurement and contract management for printing and editing services.

Performance Analysis

The Performance Analysis team supports strategic and evidence-based decision-making by AFP executives through continuous improvement of the AFP’s performance framework and development of Executive Scorecards and insight reports on agency-wide performance. Team members are responsible for:

  • Data-driven storytelling through statistical analyses, data visualisations, or executive-level briefs to illustrate the AFP’s achievements and performance.
  • Applying data skills to drive continuous improvement of internal performance scorecards for internal governance forums, and the AFP’s key performance indicators.
  • Supporting the validation and production of briefs for senior decision makers while contributing to enhancements in internal data quality.
  • Delivering performance advice to support AFP executive engagement with Government initiatives (e.g. Senate Estimates briefs).

Essential Requirements

Success candidates for the Corporate Reporting and Performance Analysis teams are required to have:

  • You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
  • A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • Relevant qualifications, contemporary knowledge and experiences, or transferrable skills relevant to the role, as described above.
  • An understanding of the role of the AFP in the Australian and international policing context, and broader law enforcement and national security environment.

  • This position is an AFP Band level 4 and 5.
  • This role is located in Canberra and Melbourne, applicants are to be based around Canberra and Melbourne.
