About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity, on-site in our Geelong Engineering Department, for an experienced Control Systems Engineer (Mechatronics or Electrical) to join our team. Your key responsibilities will include to:
- Develop, test and implement PLC and SCADA programs ensuring they meet system requirements and functionality for various production processes.
- Design control systems, including selecting appropriate hardware and software components.
- Assist with functional testing of control panels.
- Be familiar with ladder logic, function blocks and structured text.
- Diagnose and resolve issues with logic as required.
- Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of PLC and SCADA programs, system configuration, company standards and operational procedures, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
Reporting to the Senior Electrical Engineer you will work across our Australian manufacturing sites and warehouses primarily looking after our plant SCADA systems and information transfer between production processes and business systems. Development and ongoing maintenance of our energy monitoring and reporting system will be a focus project.
There is also regular opportunities to work on our automated manufacturing processes with numerous plant and equipment improvements and upgrade projects in the pipeline and you will undertake special project work and assist in other engineering projects from time to time.
Additional tasks may include programming of PLC's and HMI’s, hardware component selection, on-site commissioning, testing, and developing communications interfaces into other systems.
About the Person
To be successful you will need the following:
- A degree in Engineering (Mechatronics or Electrical).
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience preferably in industrial control and automation design (PLC and SCADA), experience in the manufacturing sector is advantageous.
- Over 2 years of experience in development, integration, testing and commissioning of PLC and SCADA-based automation and control systems.
- Strong knowledge of PLC, SCADA or DCS technologies – Rockwell (Allen Bradley) and Citect.
- A background in software development, programming, and an interest in computing, databases & networking highly regarded.
You will have excellent communication skills, be able to develop relationships with a broad range of people, ideally with experience in project management and demonstrated creative problem-solving abilities.
Above all, you will be able to think analytically, conceptually and laterally, with ability to solve problems and fault find independently.
