The Role
Duties of the EL 2 position include:

  • Provide leadership and management of a multi-disciplined project team and supervise and oversee all aspects of very complex project activities including finance, commercial, technical, risk, schedule, human resources and industry relationships;
  • Accountable for managing and leading a team, including providing clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance and behavioural standards, managing performance, delegating responsibility and guiding and developing people;
  • Review established technical, operational, professional and administrative activities, procedures, practices and project management methodologies and advise on the development of project management best practice and Defence reform initiatives;
  • Integrate risk and opportunity management into planning, decision making and priority setting;
  • Build and sustain a network of key stakeholders, communicate with influence and negotiate effectively; and
  • Engage and influence Defence senior leadership and provide key link between senior executives and Defence employees.
  • Knowledge and understanding of SAFe and waterfall project management frameworks; and
  • Experience in applications and/or infrastructure project delivery in large, complex, enterprise level delivery.

This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. To be successful in this role, candidates need to demonstrate the ability to lead best in class digital capability, make best use of budgets and work in diverse multi-stakeholder environment. You will also have:

  • Superior knowledge and experience in digital platforms and technology delivery or enhancements;
  • Extensive experience providing high level advice to senior leaders;
  • The proven ability to lead and implement growth in diverse teams; and
  • Proven exceptional organisational skills, specifically the ability to oversee either programs or multiple projects, prioritise commitments and meet critical deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
  • Additional professionalisation, training and development may be offered to successful candidates.

Eligibility

Security Clearance:
Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Baseline Vetting”.
