The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) is Australia’s leading Government agency for supporting health and medical research for the improvement of individual and population health. It does this through funding high quality research, supporting the translation of research into evidence-based practice and policy, providing guidance on responsible research practices and ethical issues and administration of legislation governing research using human embryos. In addition, NHMRC has responsibilities in relation to implementation of the Medical Research Future Fund.
About the roles
We are looking for a high performing candidates to fill the roles of Senior Project Officer to help develop national evidence-based guidelines including:
- Clinical Practice Guidelines for Trans and Gender Diverse People under 18 years of age
- Public Health Guidelines including the Australian Dietary Guidelines and the Australia New Zealand Nutrient Reference Values
- Environmental Health Guidelines including the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines and Recreational Water Guidelines

As a Senior Project Officer you will work with the best available scientific evidence, expert committees and research professionals to provide evidence-based recommendations that promote health and wellbeing and inform health strategies and policy decisions.
Our ideal candidate
We are looking for someone with:
- Experience in clinical practice, public health or environmental health guideline development (GRADE approach preferred but not mandatory)
- Strong skills in interpreting scientific or health literature, legislation, regulations, policies, or guidelines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional stakeholder management abilities.

*Please note the salary range will increase to $95,475 - $107,708 + 15.4% superannuation from 13 March 2025.
