YOUR ROLE IN OUR FUTURE

Fixed Term Full Time Role .

An exciting opportunity is available for a Medical Laboratory Technician to join the Anatomical Pathology team at Peter Mac. This is a full-time, fixed-term contract for 12 months to cover maternity leave.

The successful candidate will contribute to the provision of histology, cytology, and specialist services, while also supporting cutting-edge research programs.
Salary range between $58,047.60 - $74,848.80 dependent on experience

Key Requirements:

  • High-quality technical experience in a diagnostic Anatomical Pathology laboratory
  • Strong understanding and experience in Histology techniques, including:
  • Embedding
  • Microtomy
  • Specimen accessioning
  • Equipment maintenance
  • Block and slide filing
  • Experience in Cytology prep (highly desirable)
  • Availability to work between 5 AM and 6 PM, Monday to Friday
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in a team environment

Victorian Department of Health has a program of reforms across the public pathology system in Victoria.
As part of these reforms, the pathology services from the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, the Royal Women's Hospital and the Royal Children's Hospital are being considered for transition to a new style of service within Local Area Networks. The new model for delivering public pathology services will present an exciting opportunity to improve the scope, scale and reach of pathology services and testing capability to all Victorians.
As this role is with Parkville, the successful candidate for this role will be initially employed by Parkville. However, this position and the successful candidate's employment (including terms and conditions of employment) may be subject to a transition as part of this reform agenda.
