- Lead a team of up to 15 direct reports and provide technical leadership for Sydney Water’s extensive asset base
- Establish newly created functions to support Sydney Water’s Asset Management strategy
- Guide a team in long term asset management planning for key asset classes
As the Engineering Team Manager - Reliability and Technical , you will lead Sydney Water’s Reliability Engineering function and provide leadership in areas of Asset Management and Engineering support, ensuring the effective management and continuous improvement of our asset fleet.
In this leadership role, you’ll guide a multidisciplinary team through all phases of asset management—from creation to maintenance and renewals—while driving strategic alignment with enterprise goals. You will oversee impactful projects, collaborate with senior leaders, and mentor a team of professionals including; Asset Managers, Engineers, and technical experts, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and professional growth .
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of professionals, including engineers, asset managers, and specialists.
- Provide mentoring, support, technical advice, and training to team members. Identify capability gaps and develop strategies to enhance team effectiveness.
- Align with and deliver on Sydney Water’s purpose, priorities, and goals.
- Oversee the Reliability Engineering functions across the asset fleet, ensuring optimal asset performance and risk management.
- Translate enterprise strategic goals into actionable plans for the team, prioritising work to meet cost, risk, and performance requirements.
- Apply core engineering expertise to support asset lifecycle management, from design to maintenance and renewals.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Tertiary Qualifications: A degree in Engineering, Science, related discipline
- Industry Experience: Proven experience in asset management, operations, production, or maintenance highly regarded.
- Leadership Experience: Proven experience in leading teams, driving performance, and managing cross-functional teams.
- Change Management: Experience in driving organisational change and influencing stakeholders.
Essential Requirements:
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership qualities with the ability to manage teams, think strategically, and make effective decisions.
- Communication: Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to simplify complex information and drive clear outcomes.
- Technical Knowledge: Extensive experience in maintenance and reliability engineering, with a focus on delivering results across a range of asset types.
- Citizenship/Residency: Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
