As a Collections and Recoveries Specialist, day to day will look something like this:

  • Late-Stage Collections – Manage and negotiate the resolution of severely delinquent accounts, including charge off and pre-legal case.
  • Pre-Legal Identification – Assess accounts for legal action viability, working closely with internal legal teams to prepare cases for escalation.
  • Skip Tracing – Utilise advanced skip tracing techniques and databases to locate ‘hard-to-find’ debtors and facilitate successful contact.
  • Negotiation – Conduct effective negotiations with customers to establish strong outcomes that align with company policies and client expectations.
  • Customer Engagement – Maintain a professional and empathetic approach when interacting with customers while firmly securing payment commitment.
  • Reporting & Documentation – Maintain accurate records of collection efforts, settlements, and legal escalations as required.
  • Collaboration – Work with internal departments, including legal and operations teams, to optimize recovery strategies and outcomes.
  • Process Improvement – Identify opportunities for improving collection processes and strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Quality and Data Security
  • Conform to requirements of ARMA’s Quality & Information Security Management System, including privacy and confidentiality requirements.
  • Participate in internal and external audit of the Quality Management System.
  • Strong understanding of late-stage collections processes and best practices.
  • Proficiency in skip tracing techniques and tools.
  • Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills.
  • Ability to assess and escalate cases for legal action appropriately.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage difficult conversations professionally.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to debt collection.
  • Proficiency or experience in CRM and collection software systems.
  • Computer · Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet
