About the Opportunity

The role of the Senior Analyst – Project Manager for Western Sydney Parkland will be responsible for leading the development of data insights in order to improve the District’s strategy and approach to Service Planning. The role will grant the opportunity to work towards providing planning and development of health services for future populations in the Western Sydney Parklands region. This will include utilising skills in health planning, innovative and community-centred health service models, and long-term planning to meet the needs of a growing and diverse community.

What does the role entail?

The Senior Analyst will work as part of the Strategy and Partnership Directorate to develop high quality plans, reports, responses and strategies which are consistent with the corporate vision, mission and agreed direction of the South Western Sydney Local Health District and the NSW Ministry of Health. The Senior Analyst will design and conduct environmental scans, data queries and manipulation to obtain data for analysis. The role will develop methods for, and conduct, complex analysis and modelling to support the development of key LHD Service, Workforce, Clinical and other plans.

Who does the position work with?

This position will have the opportunity to work with a number of both internal and external stakeholders that will be critical in carrying out assigned responsibilities. Internal teams within SWSLHD, including planning, infrastructure, and clinical services teams. External stakeholders, such as local councils, NSW Health and the Department of Planning, Health providers and researchers.

Professional qualities you would ideally possess:

In addition to being able to design and perform environmental scans and data queries, the ideal candidate should also have a sound understanding of statistical techniques and their application. The Senior Analyst should also have a high level of analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills that compliments the role and align with South Western Sydney’s corporate vision for the Western Sydney Parklands. Since this role will be communicating consistently with both internal and external stakeholders, the Senior Analyst should also possess a high degree of inter-personal skills.

Working Arrangements:

The position is full-time, with an expectation to work Monday to Friday. Part time arrangements can be negotiated. This role is based at Liverpool Hospital, with travel across the SWSLHD as necessary.

What You'll be Doing

Components of the role include data extraction, statistical analysis, data mining and predictive modelling.

How to Apply

  1. A degree in Statistics or relevant field; or equivalent work experience; with proficiency in data extraction (SQL) & at least one statistical software tool.
  2. Sound understanding of statistical techniques and their application to identify data trends of interest and to facilitate the development of data models for predictive analysis.
  3. Demonstrated high level analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills with demonstrated capacity to quickly identify and analyse complex health trends and issues and report risks to enable responsive service management and planning.
  4. Demonstrated capacity to use computer based applications and information systems, including word processing, database and spreadsheet packages, and statistical packages (eg. SAS, R)
  5. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
