What you'll be doing

The Research Officer will contribute actively to the provision of high quality adolescent health research at the Academic Department of Adolescent Medicine within Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (SCHN) Department of Adolescent Medicine.
Research which improves health services for adolescents is the major focus of our program. The Research Officer will work as a researcher and project coordinator on a grant-funded implementation science project that focuses on digital psychosocial screening of adolescents in hospital emergency department settings. Working under the supervision of Chief Investigators, the Research Officer will be responsible for day-to-day project coordination duties, data collection, and data analysis. The research contribution of this position may involve assistance in literature reviews, ethics and funding applications, recruitment for studies, data collection, and manuscript preparation. The research officer will develop specific skills and capacity in adolescent health research and implementation science.
The position is based in Westmead and requires an ability to travel to hospital sites in Blacktown, Newcastle and Wollongong.
  • A degree in adolescent health, psychology, public health, clinical research, or relevant field, or equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical/health research with an interest in Adolescent Health and/or implementation science and mixed-methods research.
  • Experience in scientific writing, literature reviews and/or systematic reviews.
  • Sound experience of research ethics and experience working to approved research protocols.
  • Highly proficient computer knowledge and skills including word processing, data bases and scientific computer programs and the abilty to use/learn project management tools.
  • Excellent organisational, communications and record management skills, with proven ability to build successful working relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience in working cooperatively as part of a team as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision when required.
  • Current unrestricted driver’s licence which is valid in NSW (Class C licence or equivalent) and ability to travel as required.
